Board & Train Terms & Conditions

BOOKINGS MUST BE CONFIRMED

Board and Train bookings must be manually confirmed by one of our trainers to ensure suitability for the program. A full refund will be given if we cancel your booking due to lack of suitability.

CANCELLATIONS

In order to receive a full refund for a cancelled booking, you must cancel your booking at least one week before the start date - i.e. close of business on the Monday before your program is due to commence.

Cancellations made Tuesday to Thursday in the week leading up to your booking will be charged a 50% cancellation fee.  

Cancellations made Friday or later will not receive a refund.

AAA PET RESORT POLICIES

Beacon Dog Training is only responsible for the training your dog receives during their stay with AAA Pet Resort; you will need to follow all of AAA's policies as a boarding client. Beacon will not be involved with your dog's care outside of the time they spend actively working with our trainers.

TRAINER ILLNESS / ABSENCE

In the event that the trainer scheduled to work with your dog is unable to attend, we will do our best to arrange for one of our other trainers to cover the session. If no replacement is available a full refund will be offered for the missed day. Please note that Beacon is unable to provide refunds for the boarding fee as boarding is handled separately by AAA Pet Resort.

DOG UNABLE TO BE TRAINED DUE TO STRESS OR OTHER REASON

If we arrive on your dog’s first Board & Train day to find that your dog is really struggling with the new environment, we will dedicate our training time with them on that day to attempting to reduce their stress and improve their level of comfort. If after this time we determine that your dog will be unable to complete their training, we will contact you and arrange for the cancellation of their training.

In this scenario, or any other where we meet with your dog on the first day but are unable to complete their training, we will provide a 75% refund of the total training block fee. You will need to contact AAA Pet Resort separately if you elect to cancel their boarding as well.

To avoid this scenario we recommend booking a trial stay with AAA Pet Resort so that your dog is familiar with the environment. If your dog has never boarded in a kennel before we recommend arranging for an alternative (like a family member who could pick them up) if you are planning on being away when your dog is booked.

PROGRESS UPDATES

Throughout your dog’s training we will provide brief updates on their progress. At the end of your dog’s stay you will receive an email with written instructions on continuing your dog’s training, including a summary of their progress and our recommendations on how to proceed.

HANDOVER SESSION

We STRONGLY recommend that all clients book a handover session after their dog’s Board & Train block. Handover sessions run for one hour and are held in the client’s home, and cost $190.

The first time your dog stays for two weeks or more you will receive a credit for a FREE handover session. This credit is not transferrable to another service and is only available after your dog’s first stay.

Though strongly recommended, a handover session is not always required. If you will be continuing your training with group classes or private lessons you can usually forgo the handover session.

CONTINUED TRAINING

We very strongly recommend continuing with either group classes or private training after your dog has finished their Board & Train program. While Board & Train allows us to make fantastic progress, dogs are very contextual and it's very important that we train with YOU as well as your dog to ensure lasting results.

Board & Train on its own isn't designed to "fix" behavioural issues, but instead to help your dog make a big leap forward with their behavioural modification and build momentum that you can continue at home.
